Transition to Freediving
The transition to becoming a freediving instructor felt natural, as I traded the scuba tank for the power of my lungs.
Discovering Mermaiding
My journey into mermaiding began several years ago during a playful moment with a monofin in a crystal-clear cenote. What started as freediving training turned into an underwater dance, which sparked my interest in mermaids, monofins, and tails.
My Journey
Throughout my career, I’ve immersed myself in various underwater activities such as modeling, scuba diving, freediving, and mermaiding. It’s been my dream to share this underwater magic with you, and that’s how Karibbean Mermaids was born.
Passion for Nature and Connection
For over 15 years, I’ve worked in the tourism industry, where connecting with new people from around the world and sharing unique, nature-immersed experiences has always been my passion. About four years ago, I started practicing freediving and immediately fell in love with the freedom, silence, and connection with nature that it offers—something completely different from my years as a Scuba Instructor.
Sharing the Magic
It wasn’t easy to gather all the equipment we have today, but it was worth it to see others experience the freedom, grace, and joy of mermaiding. Watching my clients’ inner child come alive in the water and seeing their shining faces is the ultimate reward for me.
Official Certification
As I developed my Mermaid Experience, the SSI Mermaid program was introduced, allowing me to become an official Mermaid Instructor. The experience I had been offering closely mirrored what SSI later formalized, which made the certification process seamless.
